Analysis of the questionnaire I carried out for my preliminary task

The results of the college questionnaire were that 50% of the people questioned were male and 50% were female. This tells us that we have surveyed the right amount of males and females. From our research, we have found that only 50% of those surveyed would read a college magazine and those would all be students at the college. This means that extensive work would have to be put in to the marketing of the magazine to attract those people who said they would not read a college magazine. We would have to provide the magazine for free, as only 15% of people said they would pay for a college magazine. The repercussions of this are that we could only produce a college magazine once each half term due to the cost of producing it. Therefore we would be limited in the amount of free gifts that we could offer, despite people saying in our questionnaire that free gifts would attract them to the magazine. We asked what type of content people would like to see in a college magazine; most people said that they would like articles about music, college information, events, food, fashion, gossip and news. In our questionnaire, we asked what people would like to see on the front cover of the magazine. They said that it must be eye-catching and must include images and some content. A web version of the college magazine would be possible. However, due to costs, it would have to be an idea that is looked into further in the future. People said that they were willing to recruit people to contribute to the magazine but most people said that they were not willing to contribute themselves.
